Therapy for Men Who Want Real Connection
You deserve to find the connection and love relationship you desire.
I am a female therapist who has been working with men for more than 2 decades.
Are you tired of feeling insecure, rejected, stuck, or stagnant in your dating life? You are not alone.
So many men are navigating first dates, being ghosted, looking through endless profile pictures, figuring out their own dating profiles, feeling like “it’s not working,” or just wanting to give up.
You might be asking yourself:
- “Why does it feel like everyone else has found someone?”
- “Why can’t I meet that special someone?”
- “Why do I keep getting friend-zoned?”
- “Why do I always feel so anxious around women?”
- “What the heck does a guy have to do to get a date!”
The truth? It’s really a 2-prong approach to get you where you want to be:
- Understanding yourself and healing your insecurities (with the help of a great therapist who has years of experience)
- You can then show up in your dating life with new tools, clarity of what you truly want and confidence in knowing what you deserve. A confident man who knows what he wants is very attractive to women.
Please let me introduce myself. I’m Janel. I’ve been a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) since 2005 and I have been working mainly with male clients since 2002.
In my work as a therapist, I help all sorts of men. Many are smart and successful in other parts of life—but who feel frustrated or confused when it comes to dating. Many of my clients know they have some past emotional wounds to heal to be able to improve their lives. But, many clients have no idea why they can’t get things to go in the direction they would like.
Through therapy, I will help you understand what’s getting in the way—whether it’s past relationship baggage, unhealed childhood wounds such as parents getting divorced, anxiety, low self-worth, or difficulty expressing emotions.
Therapy Can Help You:
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Increase self-awareness
- Understand emotional intelligence
- Understand your attachment style
- Navigate anxiety, overthinking, or fear of rejection
- Understand and shift unhelpful dating patterns
- Improve communication skills
- Identify red flags—and stop ignoring them
- Let go of shame
- Set boundaries and learn what you truly want in a partner
All of this is possible when you have someone walking along side you to not only help you do some necessary healing, but to also help you make better life decisions and help you move forward.
Why Therapy Instead of a Dating Coach?
Working with a female therapist has many benefits. I understand things from a female perspective & I have years of experience working with male clients so I have a unique view into both worlds. I also have some effective ways to think about dating & relationships that will help get you where you need to go. Really this is about having better dating and relationship skills and believing you have what the right woman for you is looking for in a life partner. Therapy helps remove all things getting in the way.
Another reason a therapist might be a better fit is because you are not committed to a specific number of sessions. And even though I have years of training, including a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, my hourly rate is less than most coaches and slightly less that a Registered Psychologist. So things are a little more affordable and appointments can be done at whatever frequency works best for you. Generally, I always say that the best results will come from a regular frequency even if that is once per month. Many clients meet once every 2 weeks.
With therapy, you can come for a few appointments or a lot of appointments, it is up to you to decide how long you would like to work together.
Online Sessions for Busy People (Or those of you not in Vancouver)
Many of my “dating help” sessions are conducted virtually and everything is confidential. You can fit therapy into your schedule with little hassle whether you’re at home, at work, or on the go—you’ll have a safe space to talk and really work towards creating effective change in this area of your life.
You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone
The dating world can feel overwhelming and daunting—but you don’t have to navigate it without support.
Together we will:

- Better understand what the right kind of woman is looking for

- Develop a plan to get you there
You deserve connection, respect, and love. If you’re ready to stop struggling, I’m here to help.
